Issues on Deepening of Cooperation Discussed

On April 16, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Mikayel Melkumyan and the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly met with the parliamentary delegation of the RF Moscow Region which led the First Deputy Chairperson of the parliament Larisa Lazutina.

Mikayel Melkumyan welcomed the guests’ visit to Armenia and expressed hope that the bilateral cooperation would be effective. He has highlighted the enlivening of the ties with Moscow Region, especially in the spheres of trade-economy, education and tourism, noting that there are all bases for promoting the expansion of cooperation.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker informed the guests about the reforms being implemented in our country: the transition to the system of the parliamentary government and the legislative amendments directed to the improvement of the business environment.

Speaking about the RA foreign political priorities, Mikayel Melkumyan considered prior the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group, underlined the deconstructive policy of Azerbaijan. In this context the RA NA Deputy Speaker has touched upon the sale of the assault weapon by Russia which is negatively accepted by the Armenian community.

The First Deputy Chairperson of the parliament Larisa Lazutina thanked Mikayel Melkumyan for the warm reception and highlighted the implementation of the mutual visits. She, as the members of the delegation, considered possible to develop inter-regional relations in trade-economic, agricultural and educational spheres.

The interlocutors touched upon the issue of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and debate the possibility of holding a joint business forum.

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Vardevan Grigoryan, the Secretary of the RA NA Tsarukyan Faction Vahe Enfiajyan and the Chairman of the Employers’ Union Gagik Makaryan took part in the meeting.
